What to expect at your consultation.

A hair consultation is where you and your stylist discuss your hair goals, assess current hair health, and agree on a journey plan for you and your hair It establishes expectations, timelines, and aftercare so you leave the salon with results you can manage at home.

During your hair consultation, you and your stylist will have a conversation that identifies what you want, and your stylist can provide the best recommendations to suit your skin tone, lifestyle and budget. Your consultation is also the perfect opportunity for your stylist to examine your hair texture, density, condition, and scalp health. You will also be able to show any inspiration pictures, ask your stylist questions and discuss your likes and dislikes

A clear consultation will cover your recommended service, cut, timings and professional treatments You will also get a better idea on maintaining your hair, such as how often you’ll need trims, re-booking your follow up appointment and after care at home to keep results looking their best.

At Regis, you will benefit from our expert stylist's knowledge in colour, style, treatments and after care from our extensive retail options.

Why hair consultations are important

A consultation helps you set clear goals, look after your hair health and get a personalised journey plan which covers your cut, colour and maintenance. It clarifies timing, costs and at-home care so you leave knowing your hair is in good hands before your main appointment.

It is also a chance for you to get to know your stylist and ensure the relationship is right for you. Your stylist will gather as much information about you and your hair health during a consultation, so it is important to be open and discuss the goals you wish to achieve with your hair

If you are a first-time guest looking to start your colour journey, then a skin patch test will be required at your consultation or at least 48 hours before your main appointment. This is to eliminate any allergies or sensitivities to the hair colour. Existing guests will require an up-to-date skin patch test every 6 months to comply with health and safety within salon.

If you have any concerns or experiencing issues with your overall hair health, a consultation is a good way to bring this up to your stylist. They will be able to assess your hair and scalp so they can recommend any treatments or products to use at home in between appointments. This can also help on your journey plan and the right adjustments can be made for you and your hair.

Booking your appointment

Once a clear journey plan has been set and you are happy with it, you can then book your appointment. You and your stylist can book this during your consultation to secure the best date and time for you both, or you can book this online if you need to look at your diary first. We would recommend booking with your stylist at the time of your consultation so you can be sure to get a date and time suited to your needs.
