LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Our beauty therapists will only ever use PHD (Professional, Hygienic and Disposable) waxing, which is the most effective and hygienic system available. Unlike traditional waxing, where wax is repeatedly applied from the same pot of hot wax (often shared by multiple clients), the PHD system uses fresh wax from a sealable tube, applied with a clean, disposable applicator. This way, there is little chance of contamination and the quality of the wax is maintained, for consistently smooth results.
Available in selected salons, threading is a traditional method of hair removal, which uses thin cotton threads to trap unwanted hair in a gentle twisting motion, removing it from the follicle. Skilled beauty technicians carry out this delicate treatment for incredibly accurate results that last up to six weeks. Threading is now the preferred method for eyebrow shaping because it is so precise and gentle on the skin, making it suitable for all skin types, particularly those too sensitive for waxing or laser hair removal.
Threading Useful Tips
-We definitely don’t recommend trying this yourself at home as it can be a painful process that can cause damage to the skin when performed by an unskilled practitioner.
-Threading only works on flat surfaces and does not work on bikini lines or knees.
-For people with severe acne, threading can cause acne ruptures, so please consult your therapist beforehand if you have any concerns.
-The results of the treatment can last for two to four weeks.
Electrolysis is a high-tech treatment that can offer incredible results and lead a permanent reduction in hair growth. An electronic current is applied into each hair follicle, with a very fine needle-shaped electrode or metal probe, to destroy the hair at the root. Multiple sessions are required to catch all of the hairs at the critical growth period. However, over time, you will eliminate the need for waxing altogether.
Electrolysis Aftercare & Tips
-Prior to your appointment, you will need to have a consultation with a Regis electrologist to discuss your health and medical history, to ensure you are suitable for the treatment.
-Very little aftercare is necessary and although the skin may feel irritated and appear slightly red immediately after your treatment, these symptoms tend to resolve within a few hours.
-If your aim is for permanent hair removal, you will need multiple treatments. This is because the skin has multiple follicles for each hair, so dormant follicles may begin to grow hair in-between sessions. Follow-up sessions help to treat these newly active follicles.
-The majority of people will require follow-up sessions every week or every other week for several weeks to eliminate hair on their target area.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal uses a mild radiation via high-heat lasers to burn hair follicles sufficiently enough to reduce hair growth. Although the effects last longer than at-home or traditional hair removal methods, such as shaving, laser therapy does not guarantee permanent results and multiple treatments are required for long-term hair removal.
Laser Hair Removal Aftercare & Useful Tips
-Anyone having their hair removed with a laser will need to wear eye protection during the treatment.
-Laser hair removal may be done just about anywhere on the face and body, except your eye area.
-There is also little-to-no recovery time involved. You can resume your normal activities straight after each procedure.
-Although new hairs may still grow, you’ll notice that they grow much finer and lighter in colour than before. This means that when there is regrowth it won’t look as heavy or noticeable as before.
-This procedure tends to work best if you have both fair skin and dark hair.
-Most people will require up to 8 follow-up treatments to get the best results, which can be scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart. Once hair growth has been sufficiently restrained, a person may require a once-or twice-yearly maintenance session.
