WHAT ARE TINTS & HIGHLIGHTS?

This colouring technique brightens hair by lifting your natural base to create a beautiful lightness and contrast. Combining highlights (or lowlights) with a global tint painted in between perfectly fuse and blend the colours. Most stylists will use foil to separate strands of hair which will be lightened whilst the rest is left natural or covered using a tint.

A permanent full head colour is a process that lifts the original colour of hair and deposits a new shade into the strands. Tinting, on the other hand, is temporary—it deposits colour on top of the strands without lifting the original pigment, which is great when you are dealing with damaged or brittle hair but still want to add a subtle colour with shine and gloss.

Since tints do not absorb directly into the hair shaft, the colour eventually washes away with shampooing. If a tint is applied to damaged, bleached or brittle hair, the porosity of the strands lets the colour absorb deeper which could take longer to wash out. A tint needs to be reapplied every two to four weeks for an even coverage.

WHY CHOOSE TINTS & HIGHLIGHTS

  • Add a colourful shine to naturally darker hair.
  • Create contrasting lighter areas with cleverly placed highlights that work to blend with your global tint and cover greys.
  • Great for the appearance of thicker hair.
  • Refresh your regrowth.
